Joga.com Companion adds football flavor to popular open source Web browser, enabling fans to stay connected with scores, videos and each other
Mountain View, Calif. and Paris, France - June 14, 2006 - Football fans all over the world can now have a Web browser that reflects their passion for the game. Mozilla today announced the release of the Joga.com Companion, a free browser add-on for Mozilla Firefox 1.5 developed by Mozilla and made available by Google.
Joga.com is the online community created by Google and Nike under the banner of Joga Bonito - "Play Beautiful" in Portuguese - for anyone who shares a love for football, the world's most popular sport. With the Joga.com Companion, Firefox becomes a new resource for football fans who are eager to stay up-to-date with their favorite teams and show their support while browsing the Web. Fans can theme their Web browser with national team colors, track the latest scores and headlines, view videos, easily find new communities to join, and receive up-to-the-minute match and goal notifications right in their browser.
"Football fans worldwide are passionate about their teams and the sport, and the Web has become the major vehicle to follow these passions and connect with like-minded people," said Christopher Beard, Vice President of Marketing and Product Management, Mozilla Corp. "The Joga.com Companion is a great way for everyone who loves football to join a worldwide community of fans, show pride in their team, follow all the action, and stay connected while online."
The Joga.com Companion is now available as a free download in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, and Portuguese, with additional languages available soon.
